Kristen Jackson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from SUNY Cortland. She is currently employed by Onondaga County, where she has worked as a Probation Officer for the last 13 years. Kristen has experience working in many different units within her department, including Criminal and Family Court Investigations, Electronic Home Confinement, Alternative To Incarceration Programs, Driving While Intoxicated, and Rockefeller Drug Law Reform. She also is a member of the Community Deployment and Active Shooter teams in her office.
Kristen is the recipient of the 2011 New York State Award for Outstanding Service by a Probation Officer. Presently, Kristen is assigned to Syracuse Community Treatment Court, where she works closely with Drug Court personnel to provide a supportive and structured program for probation violators struggling with substance abuse issues. She is a facilitator of Moral Reconation Therapy and enjoys working with offenders to guide them in setting and achieving goals, while at the same time promoting public safety. She has completed both Basic and Advanced Motivational Interviewing Training through the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, and has demonstrated competency in the use of Motivational Interviewing (MI) skills. Kristen is excited to join The Varalli Group, Inc. so that she can share her experiences with MI with fellow criminal justice colleagues while also continuing to advance her skills.
